AMY BARNES, APRN, PMHNP-BC
Amy Barnes (she/her/hers) is a board certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (APRN, PMHNP-BC). She received both her bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN) and master’s degree in nursing (MSN) at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha. Amy has over 15 years of experience working in mental health, first as an inpatient psychiatric nurse before obtaining her graduate degree and board certification as a psychiatric nurse practitioner. She has provided care to patients across the age continuum from children to geriatrics.
Amy is passionate about providing care that is patient centered and trauma sensitive. Amy currently works with patients from the ages of 13-65. Her areas of focus include Perinatal Mood Disorders, Depression, Anxiety, Bipolar Disorder, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. She is an advocate for patients within the LGBTQIA community. Amy appreciates working with those who are invested in their recovery and open to the use of non-medicinal approaches such as mindfulness and individual therapy.
