I have varied life and work experiences which inform my practice and approach to life. I received a BS in Chemistry and Biology from Ouachita Baptist University. I used this degree working for a Fortune 500 company for a number of years. I went on to earn a BS in Nursing from Creighton University and then a MS in Nursing from the University of Nebraska Medical Center. I have experience in the corporate world, as well as 16 years of experience working in psychiatric mental health. I have worked in both inpatient and residential treatment facilities as a psychiatric nurse and most recently as a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner in an outpatient mental health clinic.
I love working with people and helping them to overcome barriers in reaching their potential. I have worked with people of all stripes and backgrounds. Having experienced my own setbacks and challenges I love helping people navigate through their own. Working with people who struggle with depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety disorders, ADHD, is very fulfilling to me. I will work with you to identify problems which can be helped with medications as well as identifying those things that would be better served with other treatment modalities. I am a person of faith and am comfortable talking about matters of faith. I had a boss once who encouraged me to work from my strengths and not to focus on my weaknesses. I think there is wisdom in this. It is my belief that each person is unique with their own God-given talents and abilities. I love this variety and have learned a lot from my patients!
