Anita akers, LIMHP, LADC
Anita Akers is a Licensed Independent Mental Health Practitioner, LIMHP, LADC. Anita has experience in working with teens in crisis as well as helping families gain the skills needed to raise healthy individuals. Her past work includes running a team of individuals providing supervision for families, and training in group programs designed to help girls in diversion programs. Anita Akers also has experience working in the arenas of drug and alcohol prevention and treatment, including co-occurring services and chemical dependency.
Anita graduated from University of Nebraska at Omaha in 2007. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a Masters in Counseling. Anita's focus is on cognitive behavioral intervention through the use of Choice Theory/ Reality Therapy and Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy. Anita's professional interest are working people 13 and up who are needing assistance with mental health issues, and adults who need assistance with co-occurring mental health and substance use issues. Anita is also trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing).
Anita desires to change the direction of a youth's life no matter where they have come from. She believes that your past is your past, a mental health issue or your current situation do not have to determine your future if you decide to take control.
