Sarah E. Hamilton, LCSW
Sarah is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with over 25 years of experience supporting individuals and families in various settings, including residential treatment, hospital-based, and public education. Throughout her career, she has worked extensively with individuals and families facing emotional, behavioral, and relational challenges, offering direct support, coaching, and consultation to promote growth and resilience.
Sarah earned her Master of Social Work and Master of Public Administration degrees in 2005 from the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) and her bachelor's degree from the College of St. Benedict in Minnesota, where she focused on psychology, leadership development, and gender studies.
She has experience working with children, adolescents, and adults in the treatment of depression, anxiety, and PTSD, while supporting clients with emotional regulation challenges, stress management, life transitions, grief and loss, parenting, behavioral intervention, codependency, and women's issues.
Skilled in a Dialectical Behavior Therapy-informed approach and Collaborative & Proactive Solutions (CPS), Sarah helps clients discover their inner wisdom, build essential life skills, and create a life worth living guided by their values. She uses a collaborative, strengths-based, and nonjudgmental approach, integrating humor, creativity, and genuine care in support of each client's journey.
Sarah draws from her training and experience in a variety of therapeutic practices, including Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Motivational Interviewing, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). She is also certified as a coach in Teacher Child Interaction Training (TCIT), which she utilizes as part of her service within public school settings.
A longtime member of the National Association of Social Workers (NASW), Sarah values professional ethics and lifelong learning. She views the therapeutic relationship as a partnership of equals and considers it a privilege to learn alongside her clients.
Sarah works part-time at Focus C3, offering therapy (in person or virtual) for individuals aged 12 through adulthood. Her four-legged co-therapist, Shadow the labradoodle, is a certified therapy dog available to join sessions based on client preference.
